A pager receiver of the present invention using a microprocessor for control receives messages corresponding to a plurality of ID numbers set to it and stores the received messages in the message memory area for each call distinction code indicating the destination ID number of the received message. The message memory area is provided with a storage area of fixed length for each call distinction code, for example, and each area stores one message. In this case, received messages are sorted by call distinction codes before being stored. Messages are read out of the message memory areas in ascending or descending order of call distinction codes and displayed on the LCD. Alternatively, the message memory area may be variable in length. Such a memory area comprises a directory to store the call distinction code and sectors to store messages and the messages are sorted before being stored using the call distinction code as a key.
