ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention discloses a switching system including an exchange coupled to a plurality of telephone lines, a plurality of telephone sets, and an attendant con- sole. When the exchange receives a paging request of an incoming telephone call from the attendant console, it deter- mines one of a plurality of predetermined answer codes and causes the attendant console to display the determined answer code data. Then the exchange makes a speech path between the incoming telephone call and the telephone set, when the answer code data is dialed at the telephone set after the call and answer code data are announced.
