This invention is a fine needle sealed to the end of a sheath, said sheath slips over to seal and grip the shaft of any hypodermic needle. The use applies especially to the injection of anaesthetic; where an injection into skin can be made almost painlessly by slipping the sheath over the hypodermic needle, the syringe of which is loaded with anaesthetic. The fine needle then penetrates the skin almost painlessly and a drop or two of anaesthetic is injected slowly under the skin. The fine needle is then withdrawn from the skin and the sheath and fine needle removed from the thicker hypodermic needle. The hypodermic needle can then penetrate the skin painlessly at the anaesthetised location.
