12 PAINT CAN LID AND HOLDER FOR AIRLESS SPRAYERS Abstract: A tool to secure containers of paint while serving as a hose support for airless paint sprayers and a carrying device for containers of paint used in con- junction with airless paint sprayers. A circular lid/ top plate (2) is connected to a bottom plate (4) by con- necting devices, securing a paint can between the plates. One adequate connecting device to attach the plates to- gether is a coil spring (24) with a loop/hook (26). An- other connecting device being a bolt (28) with a wing nut (32). A handle/hook (6) is incorporated into the lid (2) and serves as a carrier and hanger for the tool. A polyethelene gasket (8) on the underside of the lid (2) provides a seal to eliminate spillage of paint and af- fords ease of clean up after use. A suction tube (12) and a return tube (14) are incorporated into the lid (2). A suction tube (10) with a filter screen (16), attached to each other by a retaining clip (18), extend downward from and are attached to the suction tube (12). Cover caps (22) are provided to cover the suction and return tubes when not in use. Paint can lid and holder in figs. 2, 4, and 6 incorporate a stirrer propeller (42) connec- ted to a drive motor (40) by a propeller shaft (46) which is connected to the drive motor by a shaft collar (48). A Y shaped power cord (50) supplies power to the drive mo- tor and an airless sprayer and is attached to the lid by a power cord clamp (54). The leg of the power cord that serves the airless sprayer terminates into a female re- ceptacle to accomodate the power plug of an airless spray- er. An on-off switch (52) is provided for the drive motor. The version of the tool in fig. 5 and fig. 6 have no bot- 13 tom plate and comprises a lid (2) which is attached to the underside of the upper rim of a 1 gal. paint can by us- ing stationary clamps (34) on the underside of the lid and swivel latches (36) on the underside of the lid which are operated by latch levers (38) on the upperside of the lid (2). The swivel latches and latch levers (38) are connected to each other by connecting shafts (56) which extend through holes drilled in the lid.
