A large can (1) suitable for containing a brushable coating composition of the type applied at ambient temperatures to surfaces of buildings and which can is conveniently closeable by a screw-thread lid (7) where the opening (2) into the can is provided with screw-threads (5) formed around its external surface and a brushwipe (9) preferably comprising an edge (10) having different curvatures (10a and 10b) located in a position remote from the screw-threads. Provision of the brushwipe guards against the wiping of an overloaded paint brush on areas of the opening from which paint wiped from the brush could run to block screw threads and so make use of the screw-thread lid impracticable. The can preferably also contains a re-entrant rebate (32) in its side wall (37) to provide a brush rest (34) within the can and also means for guiding a user of the can to hold it in a preferred orientation during painting.

L'invention concerne un bidon (1) destiné à contenir une composition de revêtement applicable à la brosse, du type utilisé à température ambiante sur des surfaces de bâtiments, et pouvant être commodément fermé par un couvercle à vis (7), l'ouverture (2) dans le bidon présentant des pas de vis (5) formés sur sa surface extérieure, un essuie-brosse (9) comprenant de préférence un bord (10) ayant différentes courbures (10a et 10b) étant par ailleurs prévu en un emplacement situé à distance desdits pas de vis. L'essuie-brosse permet d'éviter que l'essuyage d'une brosse surchargée de peinture entraîne un écoulement de peinture à certains endroits de l'ouverture d'où la peinture est retirée de la brosse et bloque les filets de vis, rendant ainsi inutilisable le couvercle fileté. Le bidon présente également, de préférence, un méplat rentrant (32) sur sa paroi latérale (37) de manière à former un appui-brosse (34) sur le bidon, ainsi que des moyens permettant de guider l'utilisateur du bidon, en vue de le maintenir suivant une orientation préférée durant l'application de la peinture.
