ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Paint spray booth wastes which have been collected in a water wash are easily detackified and removed from the wash water by adjusting the pH of the wash water to a pH of about 7.0 to 12.0 with an alkali metal silicate and contact- ing the paint wastes in the wash water with an amphoteric metal salt and a poly(diallyldimethylammonium halide).
