2110905 9302147 PCTABS00019 Highly effective detackifying and flocculating of a wide variety of types of paint can be achieved by treatment with a single product that combines polymeric inorganic aluminum compounds with organic polymers containing cationic quaternary nitrogen atoms, these quaternary nitrogen atoms being separated from the polymer backbone chain by at least three carbon, nitrogen, and/or oxygen atoms, in a detackifying and flocculating composition. Preferably, the inorganic polymer is poly[aluminum hydroxychloride] or poly[aluminum hydroxysulfate].
