A paint roller assembly (10, 35) has a lower frame (11, 36) and an upper frame (12, 37). A spring connection assembly (14, 38) connects the upper frame (12, 37) to the lower frame (11, 36) to permit the upper frame (12, 37) to pivot or flex with respect to the lower frame (11, 36). The upper frame (12, 37) and the lower frame (11, 36) are each constructed and arranged to receive a cylindrical paint roller support (25, 30, 52, 53) for holding paint rollers (54, 55). A handle member (13, 39) on the lower frame (11, 36) is used by the workperson to operate the paint roller assembly (10, 35).
