This invention relates to paints and printing inks which contain carbon black as the pigment. The dispersion and storage stability of printing inks and paints may be improved by using carbon blacks containing silicon. The rheological behaviour of the paints is improved by silicondoping of the carbon blacks used. Paints having a reduced solvent content are consequently obtainable.
