0611p Uka Case 1 Pancake Armature Abstract of Disclosure A pancake armature suitable for use in an electric motor and a method for making it are described. The armature com- prises a rigid laminate constituted by two or more pairs of half-turn electric circuit patterns etched or deposited on three or more insulating separators and electrically inter- connected by through-hole conductive connections each passing through one insulating separator to unite the printed electric circuit patterns into a single continuous electrical circuit. The method for making the armature includes the steps of ap- plying an outer insulating separator and a sheet of conductive material to each face of a pair of half-turn electric circuit patterns etched or deposited on a self-supporting insulating separator, applying heat and pressure to adhere the layers of the assembly together, and electrically connecting all the half-turn electric circuit patterns by through-hole conductive connections each passing through an insulating separator to unite the printed electric circuit patterns into a single con- tinuous electrical circuit.
