There is provided a composition comprising microspheres which comprise a water- insoluble, water-swellable poly-mer and associated with the polymer, in releasable form, a chemotherapeutic agent, for use in the treatment of a pancreatic tumour or cyst, wherein the microspheres, when equilibrated in water at 37°C, comprise at least 40 wt% water based on weight of polymer plus water, wherein the polymer is anionically charged at pH7 and the chemotherapeutic agent is cationically charged and electro-statically associated with the polymer. Also provided are methods of treating pancreatic tumours or cysts using this composition.

L'invention concerne une composition comprenant des microsphères qui comprennent un polymère insoluble dans l'eau, qui gonfle dans l'eau et, associé au polymère, sous une forme pouvant être libérée, un agent chimiothérapeutique, la composition étant destinée à être utilisée dans le traitement d'une tumeur ou d'un kyste du pancréas. Les microsphères, lorsqu'elles sont équilibrées dans l'eau à 37 °C, comprennent au moins 40 % pds d'eau rapporté au poids du polymère plus celui de l'eau. Le polymère porte une charge anionique à pH 7 et l'agent chimiothérapeutique porte une charge cationique et est associé par liaison électrostatique au polymère.
