ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A panel member including a ? tal lath coated with a plastic, and a plastic foam layer having one surface bonded to the metal lath. The metal lath thus coated with a plastic defines a plurality of meshes or discrete voids, while the plastic foam layer has through-perforations therein. In addition, there is disclosed a process or manufac- turing the panel member of the type described above, in which a plurality of through-perforations are defined in a plastic foam layer having a plastic film or skin bonded to its one surface, and a metal lath bonded to the other surface thereof thermally, and then a laminate consisting of the plastic foam layer and the metal lath is formed into a desired shape, according to a cold press-forming technique. In this process, a structural member of the metal lath is coated, beforehand, with a plastic, defining a plurality of meshes or discrete voids therein, while the plastic foam layer included through-perforation provided by a punching press, beforehand, as well. Alternatively, an embossed crimp pattern may be provided on one surface of the plastic foam layer and then a plurality of through-perforations are defined in the plastic foam layer, or the aforenoted two steps are inverted, after which a metal lath coated with a plastic may be thermally bonded to the other surface of the plastic foam layer, followed by the aforenoted cold press-forming step.
