ABSTRACT A panel mounting device (16) by which a first panel (14) might be applied to the surface of another second panel (15). The panel mounting device (16) comprises a shank (10, 17) with cap (11, 18) thereto. Its shank (10, 17) is passed through a larger dimensioned hole in the second panel (15) with its cap (11, 18) engaged against the rim of the hole. A screw (13) is passed through the panel mounting device (16) to project from the shank (10, 17), engage the first panel (14) and be screwed thereinto. Before finally tensioning the screw (13), the first panel (14) edge may be tapped to accurately position it when the screw (13) is finally tightened.
