The invention relates to a panel-shaped material, for use especially as a kitchen work top, table top or such like, comprising a panel-shaped support, a covering layer joined to the panel-shaped support across the surface thereof and a covering element which is arranged along at least one side edge of said support and joined to the covering layer in a monobloc manner. To be able to produce in an economical manner a material of this kind which remains stable even in a humid environment the invention provides for the support to have a covering layer on one side only, for the covering layer and covering element to be made of a plastic material filled with an inorganic filler and for the covering layer to have a thickness ranging between 3 and 10 mm and to be joined to the support by means of a hardenable resin across its entire surface and substantially without the formation of bubbles.
L'invention concerne un matériau sous forme de panneau, s'utilisant notamment comme plan de travail dans une cuisine, comme plateau de table ou similaire, comportant un support sous forme de panneau, une couche de recouvrement liée en nappe audit support, ainsi qu'un élément de recouvrement disposé sur au moins une arête latérale du support. Ledit élément de recouvrement est lié de manière monobloc à la couche de recouvrement. Afin de produire de manière économique un tel matériau qui demeure stable, même dans une atmosphère humide, il est prévu de ne placer la couche de recouvrement que sur une face du support, de réaliser la couche de recouvrement et l'élément de recouvrement dans un matériau plastique rempli d'une charge inorganique. L'épaisseur de la couche de recouvrement est comprise entre 5 et 10 mm et ladite couche de recouvrement est liée au support, sur toute la surface et sensiblement sans formation de bulles, à l'aide d'une résine durcissable.
