ABSTRACT A panic bar assembly for use in a folding door. The assembly has first and second mounting members adapted to be mounted at the sides of a folding door. At least one of the mounting members is selectively movable in a vertical direction on the door. A panic bar is mounted at its ends to the mounting members. The with the door unfolded, the panic bar extends horizontally across the door. When the door is folded, the movable mounting member and the pivot means allow the bar to move to an upright position. A folding closure having an emergency folding door therein which has a height less than the height of the closure. A fold- ing top closure section is provided in the closure above the fold- ing top closure section together. The arrangement allows the top section to guide the folding door about corners when folding or unfolding the closure.
