A device (10) for simultaneous collection of cells from the endocervical canal and the cervical face of the uterus and methods of use. The device (10) has an elongated handle (12) having one cell-collecting member (30) projecting from the handle (12) at an axis perpendicular to the axis of the handle (12) for contacting with the cervical face of the uterus, and one cell-collecting member (20) projecting from the handle (12) along the same axis as the handle (12) for contact with the endocervical canal of the uterus. Along each member (20, 30) project sets of bristles (26, 32) which, because they are perpendicularly positioned on each member (20, 30), provide mild abrasive action to the endocervical canal and the cervical face when the device (10) is inserted into the uterus and rotated, so that cells from both regions are collected onto the bristles (26, 32).

L'invention porte sur un dispositif (10) pour le prélèvement simultané de cellules du canal endocervical et de la face cervicale de l'utérus ainsi que sur les méthodes d'utilisation du dispositif. Ce dernier (10) comprend un manche allongé (12) sur lequel est fixé un élément de prélèvement (30) de cellules dépassant le manche (12) à un axe perpendiculaire à l'axe de ce dernier (12) afin de toucher à la face cervicale de l'utérus. Il comprend également un autre élément de prélèvement (20) dépassant du manche (12) le long du même axe que ce dernier (12) afin de toucher au canal endocervical de l'utérus. En outre, des poils (26, 32) font saillis le long de chaque élément (20, 30) et sont placés perpendiculairement sur chacun de ces derniers (20, 30). Ils exécutent donc une action légèrement abrasive sur le canal endocervical et la face cervicale lorsque l'utilisateur insère le dispositif (10) dans l'utérus et le tourne, pour ainsi prélever sur les poils (26, 32) des cellules de chaque région.
