Paper supports are required to hold up a piece of paper or a book so that the contents can be read without manipulating the paper or book. The invention supports papers and books by three (3) fingers that hold the paper or book much like a human hand would. The fingers are shape memory elastomer in the preferred embodiment but can be made of other materials like spring steel. Once inserted the paper is held between the fingers, one finger on one side and two on the other, such that the fingers bend the paper vertically so that the top end of the paper does not curve downward which would make the paper unreadable. Likewise, books are held open by the fingers in one of two ways: either one finger sits in the crease of the book as the other two provide a rest for the book at the outside cover, or two fingers hold the two sides of the book open as the third supports the book at the spine. The invention generally has a weighted base to support the weight of the paper or book. The paper or book can be oriented at an angle to make the task of reading more ergonomic.
