The invention relates to paper coating slurries containing a mineral pigment and an aqueous polymer dispersion as binding agent. The invention is characterized in that the polymer dispersion is obtained by performing emulsion polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds (monomers) and in that the paper coating slurry is gelled above 35~ C, i.e. the viscosity of the paper coating slurry at least doubles at a temperature of between 35 and 60~ C in comparison with the viscosity at 30~ C. The paper coating slurry is particularly suitable for cast-coating, wherein the coating slurry is gelled during the coating process and the coated paper is brought into contact with a metal cylinder.

L'invention concerne une composition pour l'enduction du papier contenant un pigment minéral ainsi qu'une dispersion polymère aqueuse servant de liant. Cette invention est caractérisée en ce que la dispersion polymère s'obtient par polymérisation d'une émulsion contenant des composés éthyléniquement insaturés (monomères), et en ce qu'à une température supérieure à 35 ·C, la composition pour l'enduction du papier se gélifie : à une température comprise entre 35 et 60 ·C, la viscosité de cette composition est en effet deux fois plus importante qu'à une température de 30 ·C. Cette composition pour l'enduction du papier est particulièrement conçue pour un procédé de couchage au glacis ou <= cast coating >=, selon lequel la composition pour l'enduction se gélifie au cours du processus d'enduction et le papier enduit est mis au contact d'un tambour métallique.
