[Problem to be solved] To provide a paper machine that can recover function of a belt being deteriorated in wet paper peeling performance while running the conveying belt without stopping the paper machine operation, and also can suitably modify or recondition the belt surface roughness according to operative condition of the paper machine, and to provide a method to recondition the paper conveying belt using such a paper machine. [Solving Means] Providing a press device having a pair of paper conveying endless belt and a polishing device disposed on a return side of the paper conveying belt having a polisher to polish a wet paper contacting face of the paper conveying belt, which are arranged in such a way that the polisher polishes the wet paper contacting face of the paper conveying belt to enhance wet paper peeling performance that has been deteriorated by means of controlling the surface smoothness, or to enable to modify or recondition suitably the surface roughness of the belt according to the operative condition of the paper machine.
