Paper machine felts having a fiber fleece of three- dimensionally crimped fibers made from thermoplastic polymers, in particular from three-dimensionally crimped polyamide bicomponent fibers. The felts exhibit a significantly improved service life due to the markedly increased abrasion resistance of the needled-on fibers. A process for the production of needle-felted paper machine felts wherein the felts are produced entirely or partially through needle-felting of self-crimping fibers is also disclosed.
