A paper making elastic belt has a drainage channel in a surface. A surface roughness of a wall of the drainage channel is not more than 2.0 µm in arithmetic average roughness (Ra). Furthermore, the width of the drainage channel is at least 0.6mm. When the drainage channel comprises the above-- noted characteristics, squeezing performance of the paper making elastic belt is improved.
