The invention relates to a paper saturant composition comprising an aqueous emulsion polymer prepared by reacting at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and from about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent, based on the total weight of ethylenically unsaturated monomer, of a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymerizable surfactant having a terminal allyl amine moiety. Paper saturated with the emulsion is especially useful in the production of core sheets used to prepare decorative laminates.
