A capture device in a printing machine for capturing a printing stock web in the event of a tear in the printing stock web includes two capture cylinders,one of which is movably mounted on a pneumatic piston or other resilient device. The capture device also includes means for preventing an ink buildup on the capture cylinders. The means for preventing an ink buildup may include washing devices for removing the printing ink deposited on rubber blankets mounted on the outer surface of the capture cylinders. The means to prevent the ink buildup may also include outer surfaces of the cylinders 5,6 made of an ink-repellent material, such as, for example, chrome. However, the washing devices 12, 13 can also be used in addition to the ink-repellent material.
