Abstract An improved apparatus for entraining particulate materials, including seed and/or fertilizers, in a conveying air stream of an agricultural seeder is disclosed. The improved apparatus combines the accelerating force of gravity on the particulate material, being metered out by the seeder, with the downward vertical component of velocity of the entraining air stream to bring the particles to the required conveying velocity. This is achieved by having the air stream moving in a predominantly downward direction when it meets and mixes with the particulate material descending by gravity.
