Abstract of the Disclosure A parallel arm floating hoe is provided for opening the soil and is mounted on a frame which is spaced above the soil while the hoe is free to pivot in a vertical plane. A mounting bracket is provided which pivotally mounts upper and lower arms of the hoe, which are in turn pivotally mounted to a hoe assembly mounting a soil engaging tool. The hoe is devoid of any member which follows the surface of the soil to define the depth of penetration of the tool, enabling the hoe to float freely in the soil. The depth of penetration of the soil penetrating point is determined by the height of the frame above the soil and the condition of the soil beneath the surface, thus enabling the point to float freely according to soil conditions, whereby the point will seek a depth in part conditional upon subsurface soil conditions.
