PARKING BRAKE ACTUATING MECHANISM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A parking brake actuating mechanism is provided for use with a vehicle drum brake assembly. The parking brake actuating mechanism includes an actuation lever pivotally mounted on one of the brake shoes and a link member pivotally mounted on the other brake shoe. The actuation lever and the link member are pivotally con- nected together at a point intermediate the brake shoes. When the actuation lever is rotated, the link member is moved generally transversely of the brake assembly thereby moving the second-mentioned brake shoe into engagement with the brake drum. Then the actuation lever is rotated further thereby moving the first-mentioned brake shoe into engagement with the brake drum. - 1 -
