An integrated liquefaction and gasification process converts bulk particulate halogen-containing waste plastic materials with minimal particle size reduction into a synthesis gas and a non-leachable, vitreous environmentally nontoxic slag. The process involves melting and cracking bulk particulate halogen-containing waste plastic material to form a lower boiling point, lower molecular weight halogen-containing oil composition which then undergoes partial oxidation in a quench gasifier to produce a synthesis gas. Any hazardous gases, liquids or solids that are produced can be purified into commercially valuable byproducts or recycled to the process, which does not release hazardous materials to the environment.

Procédé de gazéification et de liquéfaction intégrées servant à convertir des déchets en vrac de matières plastiques en particules contenant halogène, en réduisant au maximum la dimension des particules, afin d'obtenir un gaz de synthèse et des scories vitreuses non lessivables et sans danger pour l'environnement. Ce procédé consiste à fondre et à fragmenter ces particules de déchets de matières plastiques contenant halogène, de manière à produire une composition huileuse contenant halogène et présentant un point d'ébullition et un poids moléculaire inférieurs, qu'on soumet ensuite à une oxydation partielle dans un gazéificateur de refroidissement, afin d'obtenir un gaz de synthèse. On peut purifier tous les gaz, liquides ou solides dangereux afin de les transformer en produits secondaires pouvant être commercialisés ou recyclés dans le processus, ce qui ne dégage aucun matériau dangereux vers l'environnement.
