A partial revocation list and a system and method for using the partial revocation list for tracking the authenticity of replacement cartridges in a manufactured device to inhibit cloning of the cartridges is provided. A revocation pool is maintained by a manufacturer who chooses a partial revocation list from the revocation pool to store in the memory of the cartridge. The device stores its own revocation list, informs the manufacturer of cartridges which have been used and checks when a new device is installed to ensure a cloned replacement is not being used. The partial revocation list distributes enough revocation information to devices to statistically impair the cartridge yield of a cloning operation.
L'invention concerne une liste de révocation partielle (PRL), ainsi qu'un système et un procédé permettant d'utiliser cette liste de révocation partielle afin de vérifier l'authenticité des cartouches de remplacement dans un dispositif fabriqué, afin d'empêcher le clonage de ces cartouches. Le fabricant tient à jour une liste groupée de révocation, et choisit dans cette liste groupée de révocation une liste révocation partielle à enregistrer dans la mémoire de la cartouche. Le dispositif mémorise ainsi sa propre liste de révocation, informe le fabricant des cartouches qui ont été utilisées et contrôle l'installation d'un nouveau dispositif afin d'assurer qu'aucun élément de remplacement cloné n'est utilisé. La liste révocation partielle permet de diffuser une information de révocation suffisante dans les dispositifs pour entraver statistiquement le rendement des cartouches lors d'opérations de clonage.
