Abstract of the Disclosure Personal care compositions of improved utility are described comprising carrier and an effective managing amount of partially hydrolyzed poly (N-acyl alkylenimine). The poly (N-acyl alkylenimines) contain repeating units represented by the structural formula: Image where a is from about 1 to about 50 mole percent. In the repeating units Q is an anion; R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl; R2 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl-containing group; R3 is hydrogen, oxygen or a hydrocarbyl-containing group; v is equal to the valence of Q; x is 2 or 3; y is O or 1; and z is 0 or 1, with the provisos that (1) where R3 is oxygen and y is 0, R2 is a hydrocarbyl group and z is 1; and (2) where R3 is not oxygen then y is 1.
