ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Particulate expandable styrene polymers containing organic bromine compounds and, to improve processability, from 0.0001 to 1.0% by weight, based on the styrene polymer, of an amine which is soluble in styrene and free from hydroxyl groups. The organic bromine compounds are present in an amount of 0.05 to 3% by weight. The amine compound has the general formula NR1R2R3 in which R1 is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydro- carbon radical of from 4 to 20 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen or an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical of from 1 to 15 carbon atoms and R3 is hydrogen or an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon of from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R1 has from 6 to 20 carbon atoms when R2 and R3 are both hydrogen.
