ABSTRACT A particulate surfacing has a conditioning system for conditioning the surface, and means for recycling liquid passing through particulate material of the surfacing, said conditioning system comprising a reservoir for liquid, adjacent the surfacing, means to cause a surge of liquid to propagate from the reservoir across and through the surfacing, said recycling means including the reservoir, and catchment means disposed to receive liquid passing through the particulate material of the surfacing and to permit the liquid received thereby to pass into the reservoir.
