"IN A TOOL FOR CUTTING (COMMONLY CALLED PARTING-OFF IN MACHINIST'S TERMS) OFF OR GROOVING VARIOUS FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS MATERIALS ON A LATHE. IN THIS INVENTION, A CIRCULAR CARBIDE TOOTH SAW BLADE (SIMILAR TO MANY USED IN A PORTABLE ELECTRIC CIRCULAR SAW) IS HELD IN A FIXED POSITION IN THE TOOL POST OF THE LATHE. ONE TOOTH IS FORCED INTO THE REVOLVING WORKPIECE, THUS CUTTING A GROOVE IN THE MATERIAL AND IN THE CASE OF PARTING-OFF, SEPARATING THE FINISHED PART FROM THE REMAINING STOCK MATERIAL. THE BLADE IS HELD IN A FIXED, YET INDEXABLE ASSEMBLY BY A BOLT AND PLATES. AS ONE TOOTH BECOMES WORN OR BROKEN, THE NEXT TOOTH PROFILE IS ROTATED INTO PLACE BY LOOSENING THE BOLT AND SLIGHTLY ROTATING THE BLADE."
