2076959 9212388 PCTABS00014 A passive building vent (10) on an outside wall (18), is connected to an opening (25) provided in the wall (10). A housing (30) disposed between the confined air (20) and the outside air (16) forms an air mixing chamber (32). A movable membrane (35) is mounted within the housing (30) at one end of the passageway (25). The other end of the passageway (34) communicates with the confined air (20). The membrane means (35) has a closed position, substantially blocking the passageway (34) and an open position, permitting the free flow of air therethrough. The membrane (35) is in its closed position when at rest. The flow of outside air (16) entering through the passageway (34) impinges upon a deflector (70) and is forced to exit through the vent (46) providing a pressure differential causing the membrane (35) to move to its open position permitting the flow of air (20) through the passageway (34) into the air mixing chamber (32).
