A passive video multiplexing method and apparatus for encoding video synchronization signals within a KVM extension system. A Rack Interface Pod (RIP) is provided for receiving video signals from a network server (122) and providing them to a remote user via a local area network (LAN). The analog signals received by the RIP are transmitted to a Rack Connection Manager (RCM) (116) having video processing logic, a supervisory process (94), a KVM switch system (92), and Ethernet interface circuitry (118). A plurality of ARI systems (117) are connected to the RCM (116), and a pluraltiy of network servers (122), intended to be controlled by the remote user, are connected to each ARI (117) by a respective wiring strip or Pod Expansion Module (PEM).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de multiplexage vidéo passif destinés à coder des signaux de synchronisation vidéo à l'intérieur d'un système à extension KVM. Un boîtier d'interface de rayonnage (RIP) est prévu pour recevoir des signaux vidéo d'un serveur (122) de réseau et les fournir à un utilisateur distant via un réseau local (LAN). Les signaux analogiques reçus par le RIP sont transmis à un gestionnaire de connexion de rayonnage (RCM) (116) doté d'une logique de traitement vidéo, d'un processeur de supervision (94), d'un système de commutateur (92) KVM, et d'un circuit d'interface Ethernet (118). Une pluralité de systèmes ARI (117) sont connectés au RCM (116), et une pluralité de serveurs (122) de réseau, destinés à être commandés par un utilisateur distant, sont connectés à chaque ARI (117) par une bande de câblage respective ou module d'extension de boîtier (PEM).
