The invention relates to a paste resin AB which is a mixture of a water- reducible alkyd resins B and a basic acrylic copolymer resin A comprising at least one amino group-containing vinyl type monomer A1, and a method of use thereof for formulating both water-borne and solvent-borne tinted paints with a wide variety of pigments.
