The present invention provides a support belt for use with a patient lift system. The support belt includes a longitudinal encasement with a first end and a second end, and an internal compartment. The support belt also includes a structural rib extending from the first end to the second end, and an interconnection portion disposed at both the first end and second end. A ring is attached to each interconnection portion to face litate of patient lift system, attaching the support belt to the patient lift system. A lift system assembly is also provided for selective use with a patient lift device, including a support belt and a support strap to support a patient during transport. A support strap provides includes an encasement, with a plurality of retainers on the exterior of the encasement. An attachment strap is attached to the encasement through the retainers. The attachment strap has a first end and a second end with rings attached to each end. The rings can attach to a rigid structure to secure a patient.
