A device for use in an aerosol inhalation system for delivering aerosolized medication includes a means for generating aerosolized medication and a housing that is operatively connected to the means for generating aerosolized medication such that the aerosolized medication is delivered to the housing. The device also includes a patient interface member removably connected to the housing and being separate therefrom. The patient interface member is for placement about a face of the patient and in communication with a mouth of the patient for delivering the aerosolized medication. The patient interface member incorporates a first flow control means that is positionable between an open position where aerosolized medication flows into an interior of the patient interface member when the patient inhales and a closed position when the patient exhales. The exhaled gas is vented from the interior through at least one vent port that is part of the patient interface member.
L'invention concerne un dispositif destiné à être utilisé dans un système d'inhalation d'un aérosol pour délivrer un médicament sous forme d'aérosol. Le dispositif selon l'invention comprend un moyen de génération d'un médicament sous forme d'aérosol et un boîtier qui est connecté de manière opérative au moyen de génération d'un médicament sous forme d'aérosol de manière à ce que le médicament sous forme d'aérosol soit délivré dans le boîtier. Le dispositif comprend également un élément d'interface avec le patient connecté de manière détachable au boîtier et séparé du boîtier. L'élément d'interface avec le patient est destiné à être placé sur le visage du patient et en communication avec la bouche du patient pour délivrer le médicament sous forme d'aérosol. L'élément d'interface avec le patient comprend un premier moyen de commande du débit qui peut être positionné entre une position ouverte à laquelle le médicament sous forme d'aérosol s'écoule à l'intérieur de l'élément d'interface avec le patient lorsque le patient inhale, et une position fermée lorsque le patient exhale. Le gaz exhalé est évacué de l'intérieur par au moins un port de ventilation qui fait partie de l'élément d'interface avec le patient.
