L'invention réside dans le fait que la table (10) est montée sur un rail (15) qui peut prendre des positions angulaires différentes autour d'un axe parallèle à l'axe OZ. Dans une première position le rail (15) est parallèle à OY et le statif (11) peut effectuer des examens tomographiques. Dans une deuxième position, le rail (15) est parallèle à OX et le statif (11) peut effectuer un examen corps entier par déplacement de la colonne (19), c'est-à-dire sans déplacer le lit (12).
