ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides a patient supporting device, such as a dental chair, that includes a stationary seat portion with movable backrest and toeboard portions, the chair being pro- vided with a plurality of bladders to vary its contour. This includes bladders on the toeboard selectively inflatable to provide the effect of a deeper seat for the chair. Selectively inflatable bladders on the seat can simulate titling of the seat when the back is lowered. Spaced bladders on the back support the lumbar region and the shoulders of the patient, and a third bladder on the back supports the patient's spine. Four bladders beneath pads are in the headrest, used in tilting the patient's head. An adjustable edge portion for the back supports the patient's arms when in a supine position.
