ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A patient transfer apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a base including a post and adjustable legs extending longitudinally and laterally from such post and adapted to be positioned such that the longitudinal leg extends along the main axis of a bed, a tube rotatably mounted within such post and carrying at the upper end thereof a laterally-extending arm adapted to move in a horizontal plane around the post, and a power hoist mounted in such arm and connected to a patient support for raising or lowering a patient from a bed.
