Provided is an electroactive device comprising: a liquid crystal layer enclosed between a pair of transparent substrates; one or more patterned electrode sets positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the inward- facing surface of the first transparent substrate, said patterned electrode sets each comprising two or more electrodes forming an opposing pattern, said electrodes separated by an insulating layer, wherein there is no horizontal gap between the electrodes forming the patterned electrode set; and a conductive layer between the liquid crystal layer and the inward-facing surface of the second transparent substrate. The device provides greater efficiency than conventional devices.
L'invention concerne un dispositif électroactif qui comprend : une couche de cristaux liquides disposée entre une paire de substrats transparents ; un ou plusieurs ensembles d'électrodes à motifs positionnés entre la couche de cristaux liquides et la surface orientée vers l'intérieur du premier substrat transparent, lesdits ensembles d'électrodes à motifs comprenant chacun au moins deux électrodes formant un motif opposé, lesdites électrodes étant séparées par une couche d'isolation, aucun espacement horizontal n'étant présent entre les électrodes formant l'ensemble d'électrodes à motifs ; et une couche conductrice disposée entre la couche de cristaux liquides et la surface orientée vers l'intérieur du deuxième substrat transparent. Ledit dispositif permet d'obtenir une efficacité supérieure par rapport aux dispositifs classiques.
