A CM terminal uses a predetermined suppression algorithm for removing a field that varies in a known pattern from a payload header of an information packet being transmitted to a remote CMTS terminal; and the CMTS terminal uses a predetermined restoration algorithm that is complementary to the predetermined suppression algorithm for restoring the removed field to the payload header of an information packet received from the CM terminal. The CM terminal and the CMTS terminal process and exchange service control messages that include DOCSIS PHS encoding extensions identifying the variable fields that are to be removed from the payload headers of discrete information packets and indicating respective schemes for restoring the identified variable fields and further include suppression-enable-flag values for the variable fields, to thereby define pertinent parameters of the suppression and restoration algorithms.
Selon l'invention, un terminal à modem câble utilise un algorithme de suppression prédéterminé pour supprimer un champ, variant selon un schéma connu, dans un en-tête de charge utile d'un paquet de données transmis à un terminal d'un système de terminaison à modem câble, éloigné. Ce terminal dudit système utilise un algorithme de restauration prédéterminé qui est complémentaire de l'algorithme de suppression prédéterminé pour restaurer le champ supprimé dans l'en-tête de charge utile envoyé par le terminal à modem câble. Ce dernier et le système de terminaison à modem câble traitent et échangent des messages de commande de service qui comprennent des extensions de codage de suppression d'en-tête de charge utile DOCSIS, identifiant les champs variables à supprimer des en-têtes de charge utile de paquets de données discrets et indiquant des schémas respectifs pour la restauration des champs variables identifiés, et qui comprennent en outre des valeurs d'indicateurs autorisant la suppression, destinées aux champs variables, pour définir ainsi des paramètres pertinents des algorithmes de suppression et de restauration.
