An electronic transaction payment system is provided having a vendor terminal associated with a vendor who provides goods or services to a purchaser, a vendor smart-card and a vendor smart-card reader for transmitting data to and receiving data from the vendor smart-card. The system also includes a purchaser smart-card reader which is connected to the vendor terminal and which is operable for transmitting data to and receiving data from a purchaser smart-card. In operation, payment for goods purchased by the purchaser is made between the purchaser smart-card and the vendor smart-card. In a preferred embodiment, the payment data is encrypted using an encryption key specific to the transaction between the purchaser and the vendor. A third party registry terminal may also be provided for providing validation of the vendor and/or the purchaser.
L'invention porte sur un système de paiement électronique équipé d'un terminal de vendeur associé à un vendeur qui fournit des biens ou des services à un acheteur, d'une carte à puces pour vendeur et d'un lecteur de cartes à puces pour vendeur afin de transmettre des données à la carte à puces pour vendeur et de recevoir des données de cette dernière. Ce système comprend également un lecteur de carte à puces pour acheteur qui est relié au terminal du vendeur et qui sert à transmettre des données à une carte à puces pour acheteur et à recevoir des données de cette dernière. Concrètement, le paiement des biens achetés par l'acheteur s'effectue entre la carte à puces pour acheteur et la carte à puces pour vendeur. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les données de paiement sont chiffrées au moyen d'une clef de chiffrement propre à la transaction entre l'acheteur et le vendeur. Un terminal de registre des personnes tiers peut également servir à fournir l'autorisation du vendeur et/ou de l'acheteur.
