A peak amplitude detector for use with a linear variable differential transformer wherein the peak amplitude detector adjusts for phase shift in the transformer and maintains the full bandwidth of the transformer. The peak amplitude detector obtains the maximum positive or negative amplitude of the sinusoidal signal at one of the secondary windings of the transformer by first counting either a positive or negative half cycle of the signal and then while down counting one half of the counted half cycle sampling the amplitude of the sinusoidal signal. The sampling ends when the down count reaches zero.

L'invention est un détecteur d'amplitude de crête utilisable avec un transformateur différentiel variable linéaire. Ce détecteur ajuste le déphasage dans le transformateur et maintien fixe la largeur de la bande passante de ce dernier. Il obtient l'amplitude positive ou négative maximale du signal sinusoïdal à l'un des enroulements secondaires du transformateur en comptant d'abord un demi-cycle positif ou négatif du signal, puis, tout en effectuant un comptage régressif de la moitié du demi-cycle compté, en échantillonnant l'amplitude du signal sinusoïdal. L'échantillonnage se termine quand le comptage régressif atteint zéro.
