ABSTRACT An electromechanical arrangement for use in an autopilot for yachts is disclosed and comprises a directional indicator, a sensing member associated with the directional indicator far determining movement thereof, an electrical drive controlled by the sensing member including an electrical motor and a transmission. The electrical drive provides the input for the transmission with the output of the transmission being connected to a mechanical drive for engaging the steering system of the yacht. A feedback belt is Associated with the sensing member and the mechanical drive means for moving the sensing member relative to the directional indicator in response to movement of the mechanical drive. A clutch is provided to allow selective engagement and disengagement of the electrical motor and the transmission from the steering system. This allows the feedback belt to be in constant communication with such steering system.
