This invention relates to a peelable label (10) for articles comprising (A) a first (11) and second (12) layer of polymeric film, wherein each layer (11, 12) has an upper and lower surface, the upper surface of the first (11) layer is peelably attached to the lower surface of the second (12) layer at a separation interface (13), and at least the second (12) film has at least one tear propagation point (15), and (B) an adhesive layer (14), having an upper and lower surface, wherein the upper surface of the adhesive layer (14) is bonded to the lower surface of the first (11) layer. The label (10) may have a third layer of polymeric film on the upper surface of the second (12) layer. When such third layer is present, at least the third layer, and more often the second (12) and third layers will have at least one tear propagation point (15). The present invention also relates to a method of making peelable labels (10) and to articles with the peelable labels (10) attached thereto. The present labels (10) provide a way of removing a portion of the second (12) layer of the label (10) containing information such as price, and leaving a portion of the second (12) layer of the label (10) containing other information such as the product barcode. The remaining portion of the second layer (12) subsequently may be removed to provide a surface to receive a new label. Since the second (12) layer contains no adhesive, it is not possible to remove either the whole layer or a portion of the second (12) layer (e.g., the pricing information) and reapply it to another item in a manner which will not be detected.
L'invention porte sur une étiquette pelable (10) pour articles comprenant (A) une première (11) et une seconde (12) couche de film polymère. Chaque couche (11, 12) comporte une surface supérieure et inférieure, la surface supérieure de la première couche (11) étant fixée amovible à la surface inférieure de la seconde (12) à une interface de séparation (13), le second film (12) comportant au moins un point de propagation de déchirure (15); et (B) une couche adhésive (14) comportant une surface supérieure et inférieure, la surface supérieure étant liée à la surface inférieure de la première couche (11). L'étiquette (10) peut comporter une troisième couche de film polymère sur la surface supérieure de la seconde couche (12). Ces étiquettes (10) comportent un moyen de retirer une partie de la seconde couche (12) contenant des informations telles que le prix, et de laisser une partie de la seconde couche (12) contenant des informations telles que le code à barres du produit. La partie restante de la seconde couche (12) peut être ensuite retirée pour obtenir une surface sur laquelle sera appliquée une nouvelle étiquette. Puisque la seconde couche (12) ne comporte pas d'adhésif, il n'est pas possible de retirer toute la couche ou une partie de la seconde couche (12) (telle que le prix) et de la réappliquer sur un autre article d'une manière qui ne sera pas détectée.
