The present invention is directed to a peeling machine comprising a plurality of knife stations which are successively arranged in the direction of travel of the vegetables on a machine frame, and a plurality of pairs of feeder rolls which are each supported, in particular, between two knife stations, each pair of feeder rolls being connected to a drive means, characterized in that each of said feeder rolls is rotatably supported by means of a shaft on a pivot arm which is supported on said machine frame to pivot about a stationary shaft that is arranged in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel of said vegetables, and that said stationary shaft has supported thereon a first drive wheel of said drive means which is in driving communication with a second drive wheel that is secured to the shaft of said feeder roll. The peeling machine of the present invention is particularly suited for peeling stalk-like vegetables.
