PEG-POE, PEG-POE-PEG, and POE-PEG-POE block copolymers have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks. They form micelles in aqueous solution, making them suitable for encapsulation or solubilization of hydrophobic or water-insoluble materials; and they also form bioerodible matrices for the sustained release of active agents, especially when the POE block(s) contain at least one unit containing an .alpha.-hydroxy acid.
L'invention porte sur des copolymères blocs de types PEG-POE, PEG-POE-PEG et POE-PEG-POE, comportant à la fois des blocs hydrophiles et hydrophobes. Ils forment des micelles dans des solutions aqueuses ce qui permet de les utiliser pour encapsuler ou solubiliser des matériaux hydrophobes ou hydrosolubles. Ils peuvent également former de matrices bioérodables permettant la libération continue d'agents actifs, spécialement lorsque les blocs POE comportent au moins une unité contenant un acide .alpha.-hydroxy.
