ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A new method of using a veneer lathe to directly make fuel pellets from a log without intermediate milling. The new method defines a first dimension of the fuel pellet by cutting a veneer from the log of a thickness equal to the first dimension, and defines the dimensions of the cross section of the fuel pellet by cutting the cross section dimension to a depth at least equal to or greater than the first dimension. The cross section is perpendicular to the thickness dimension of the pellet.
