Penetration resistant composites and articles that are lightweight and ultraviolet light stable. One penetration resistant composite has a plate and a plurality of fibrous layers disposed adjacent at least one major surface of the plate. At least one of the fibrous layers includes a polymer fiber that is ultraviolet light stable. The composite has an areal density of less than about 25 kilograms per square meter, and is non-penetratable in accordance with standard NIJ- 0101.04 level III dated September 2000.

L'invention concerne des composites anti-perforation et des articles de faible poids stables au rayonnement ultraviolet. Un composite anti-perforation comprend une plaque et une pluralité de couches fibreuses disposées au voisinage d'au moins une surface principale de la plaque. L'une au moins de ces couches fibreuses comprend une fibre polymère stable au rayonnement ultraviolet. Le composite présente une densité surfacique inférieure à environ 25 kg par mètre carré et une propriété anti-perforation conforme à la norme NIJ-0101.04 de niveau III établie en septembre 2000.
